Camtasia is a program that records your screen, sort of like a video
screenshot. Use of Camtasia during a regular season 7v7 game is
mandatory every game.
All recordings must show a continuous timestamp and be full screen, players must show the process update speed before and after the game.

REQUIRED SETTINGS for Camtasia Recording
Follow these instructions on how to create minimal file sizes that can be sent much easier. Before you begin, you should have a table open as well as your task manager.
| Step 1 |
| The Recorder:
Open the “Camtasia Recorder”.

|
| Step 2 |
| Full Screen:
Once you have the recorder open, click on the “Capture” menu, and select the “Screen” option. This will make sure that your full screen is recorded when you begin a recording.

|
| Step 3 |
| Time Stamp:
This is an important step, and something that you should check with a test recording before entering into any games in MLP on Camtasia.
Select the “Effects” menu, and then “Options...” at the bottom of the list.
Once the Options Menu is open, on the Annotation Tab, make sure that the “Time/Date” box is selected, and also select the “Show
Stamp for” box, and then put 9999 in to the seconds box. Once this is done, click the “Options” box next to the “Show Stamp for” box.

On this options menu, with the 9 boxes showing the position of where the timestamp will be, choose the top right box, so that timestamp in your recordings will show in the top right corner of the screen. Once you have chosen the position of the timestamp, click on the “Font…” option."

On the Font menu screen, choose the Font as “Arial”, the Font Style as “Regular” and the Size as “20”, as shown above. After this, click “OK” to close this menu, then “OK” on both the next screens, to return to the Camtasia.

Now a vital step to activate the timestamp, so that it shows during your recordings. Go to the “Effects” menu again on the Camtasia Recorder, then on the “Annotation” drop list; make sure that “Add System Stamp” is checked.

|
| Step 4 |
| The Cursor:
This again requires you to go to the “Effects” menu, but this time go to the “Cursor” drop list, and make sure that “Show Cursor” is selected

|
| Step 5 |
| File Size and Saving:
This is the last part to setting up Camtasia, and focuses on making sure the lag while playing is minimal, and makes sure the files save right.
On this tab:
Un-check “Auto Configure”
Change the Frame Rate to 1 or 1.0.

On this tab, the boxes that need to be checked are
Hide Capture Rectangle
Round Frame Size to a 4 pixel boundary
Diable display aceleration during capture.

On this tab, make sure the following boxes are NOT checked:
After Save, Play the Video
After Save, Edit the Video

Lastly, to Auto-Save your cam files, on this tab:
Select “Automatic File Name” and then make the prefix MLP vs. (Your opponents ID).

|
| Final Step |
| After going through these steps to setup your Camtasia, it is highly recommended that you do a test tape, and make sure the timestamp is showing for the duration of the recording the recording is full screen, the taskbar is visible at all times and the cursor is visible throughout the recording.
Any recording submitted for an official MLP event that is not properly configured could result in some penalty.
Below is a tape that adheres to all MLP Camtasia rules, and would be cleared, so if your tape looks something like this, then you have set it up correctly. If not, feel free to contact any member of the MLP Admin team.
